Revisiting the locations used in ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’

I Know What You Did Last Summer is one of my favorite slasher films. Filmed primarily in both Burgaw and Southport, North Carolina the film centers around four friends who make a grave mistake when they try to cover up and hit and run by throwing a man they believed is dead in the water. A year later he comes back looking for revenge.

This video tracks the locations used for Helen’s (Sarah Michelle Gellar) epic chase scene throughout Southport and Burgaw. The two towns are roughly 60 miles apart; however, with “movie magic” they appear to be the same town.

The film is an adaptation to the 1973 novel of the same name written by Lois Duncan. I’ve done two other videos visiting the filming locations from both towns while discussing the similarities and differences between the book and the movie. They are linked below.
